Security and tamper evident labels can take many different forms. Security slits cut into standard label facestock is a common means of ensuring a retail label cannot be removed from one product and placed onto a higher value product. The security slits ensure the label tears apart when someone attempts to remove it. Another option includes labels that leave behind a visual pattern when removed from the substrate. For example, a checkerboard pattern or the word “void” repeated on the substrate to show that a label has been removed, indicating potential product tampering. Yet, one more option, is a fully destructible label that simply shreds apart when removal is attempted.
